Highbush/lowbush or half-high. Early ripening approximately July 8th in Grand Junction, MI. At maturity bush is 3 feet with a yield similar to Northblue; 3-7 pounds. Fruit is very sweet with little acidity bearing medium-size fruit of excellent quality. Hardiness is main attribute.

Northblue

University of Minnesota.
Highbush/lowbush type cultivar. Plants are short in stature growing to a height of 20-30 inches. In South Haven, MI, fruit ripens July 15th. Yield is good with a possible annual harvest of 3-7 pounds of fruit per plant. Plants produce attractive, dark blue fruit in approximately ½ inch in diameter. Quality of fruit is good and firm so it stores well refrigerated. Hand harvesting or blueberry rake but not recommended for machine harvesting. Marketing potential is fresh and U-pick process. Ornamental use good as growth is vigorous in summer producing large, glossy, dark green leaves that turn dark red in fall as well as its low stature adds to its attractiveness. Northblue plants have survived winter temperatures of -35°F but production is maximized when snow protection is adequate.
